Respite Services for Carers
Centre-based Respite Program
Our Centre-based Respite Program offers carers a break while ensuring their dependents are supported by AMCS at one of our Respite Centres.
We provide culturally tailored initiatives for cultures including Eastern European, South Indian, and Sri Lankan backgrounds, helping participants stay connected to their language and culture.
Who are Carers?
Carers are people who provide unpaid care and support to family members and friends who have a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness, an alcohol or other drug issue or who are frail aged.
Who is eligible for our Centre-based Respite for Carers Program?
Participants can access the AMCS Centre-based Respite for Carers Program if they are:
- aged over 65 years
- have a carer
- based in the Northern, Eastern or Southern Metro Region.
Carer Support Services
AMCS organise transport, food and activities for our program participants while their carers recharge or take a break. The nature and type of activities depends on their interest, cultural background and capability.
Cost
Thanks to the Australian Government subsidy, only a small weekly fee applies.
